We are looking for a driven and innovative Data Engineer to build and optimize our modern data platform. In this role, you will play a key part in developing a robust, scalable, and future-proof data architecture.

Hector Rail is the largest privately owned rail freight operator in Scandinavia. We operate in a fully cloud-based environment and actively utilize Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and AI solutions to optimize our business.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Optimize and manage data architectures, including data warehouses and data lakes.
• Integrate data from various sources (databases, APIs, external systems) and build efficient ETL processes.
• Implement and optimize cloud-based solutions in Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
• Work closely with business teams to transform data into predictive AI solutions.
• Develop and deploy machine learning models in a production environment.

The Data Engineer reports to the CIO.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who enjoys building from the ground up, has an analytical approach, and can turn vision into reality. Since our IT team is small, it is essential that you are self-driven, proactive, and take full ownership of your tasks and solutions. You work well both independently and in collaboration with others, communicate effectively, and can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required. Swedish is a plus.

Experience and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Development, or equivalent.
• Microsoft Fabric and Azure, including Synapse and other data management services.
• Building and optimizing ETL pipelines.
• SQL and NoSQL databases as well as API integrations.
• Programming in Python and .NET.
• Cloud architecture and DevOps processes.
• Experience in machine learning and AI solutions is a plus!

This is a permanent position based at our head office in Danderyd, with the possibility of partial remote work. We apply a six-month probationary period.
